Position Summary
The Plumber will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of plumbing systems and related equipment. The position requires sound technical knowledge and the ability to execute plumbing works in accordance with approved specifications, applicable standards, and occupational health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, inspect, and repair water supply, drainage, and plumbing systems.
- Install and maintain plumbing fixtures, including pipes, valves, taps, sanitary fittings, pumps, tanks, and associated equipment.
- Diagnose and rectify leaks, blockages, pressure-related issues, and other plumbing faults.
- Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on plumbing systems.
- Interpret plumbing drawings, layouts, technical specifications, and work instructions.
- Determine required materials, fittings, tools, and equipment for assigned works.
- Conduct inspections and identify defects or potential failures within plumbing installations.
- Execute plumbing installations and repairs in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and applicable standards.
- Test completed installations and repairs to verify functionality and system integrity.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, materials used, and completed works.
- Identify and report technical defects, material requirements, and maintenance issues to the relevant supervisor.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with other technical personnel and contractors where plumbing works form part of larger projects.
- Maintain appropriate use, care, and storage of plumbing tools and equipment.
- Perform other duties related to the position as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate or Diploma in Plumbing, Building Services Engineering, or a related technical discipline from a recognized institution.
- Relevant practical experience in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Demonstrable knowledge of domestic, commercial, or industrial plumbing systems.
- Knowledge of plumbing materials, fittings, tools, equipment, and installation methods.
- Ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety requirements.
- Professional registration, certification, or relevant trade accreditation will be an added advantage.
- Experience working within a structured technical, construction, facilities, or maintenance environment will be an advantage.
